God Wears Wrath

God wears wrath
and the devil can match
The product of two
and their sum removed

One

Clear Path

One must love
the hallowed brilliance of a cigarette

Cold and wet

Dead

and

yet…

Black and white
A touch of gray under each eye
No, never know what
And I know why

Willingly into fire
burn
Arise, rise
same self martyr

Her makeup would be mussed
if you must
His suit in tatters
if you think it matters

Hair
Torn, matted, blood-stained
Body
Bruised, battered,
and all other wounds considered

Having lived all his life
he had suffered some malady or another
That made it difficult
to perform this bother

She the same
yet through this came
Eyes
The darkest, piercing-grey coal burning
covered mine…knowledge turning

The physical
makes ill
Mind the eyes
spring wells of conquering will

Silence

Inspiration aspires
Perspiration may inspire

God wears wrath
and the devil can match
Products and sums
natural to move

One
Two
too
Clear Path

Conflict in compromise
and in the end
all there are
are eyes

In the end

our eyes
